This course aims to trace back the growth of the British Empire and to highlight the key moments that contributed to its reaching the zenith. Key figures and their roles in steering the imperial ship are discussed. The aim is to help students recognize how the history of any nation is never separate from its cultural and particularly linguistic heriatge.
