In translation, particularly between languages with distinct cultural frameworks such as Arabic and English, translators face the challenge of balancing accuracy with cultural sensitivity. This course explores two essential translation strategies: domestication, which adapts a text to align with the target culture, and foreignization, which retains the source culture’s unique elements. Students will learn when and how to apply these strategies, examining their impact on readability, cultural preservation, and audience engagement.
